WHAT WE DO
Student Assets NFP was founded in 2011and became an Illinois certified 501(c)(3) organization in 2018. We appeal to parents, guardians and all stakeholders committed to the successful future of Urban Youth.
Student Assets NFP provides Inner City Youth the opportunity to increase their financial knowledge and expand opportunities for wealth creation. Through theoretical and practical learnings, coupled with real-time engagement with personal finances, working capital and business ownership, participants immediately experience the influence of their earnings. We facilitate programs that teach children, tweens and teens the value of the dollar, but also how to utilize their assets for self-sufficiency, community and global economic impact.

We educate children in grades K-12 about financial literacy and close the achievement gap in math and science, by stimulating interest among African American and minority youth in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields. We will shrink the wealth and income gap for youth in undeserved communities; increase youth representation in underrepresented careers with low minority representation and teach the joys of giving back to their communities financially and physically while positively affecting their net-worth and self-worth.
Stories of degreed and non degreed working poor abound. Student Assets NFP is a huge proponent of higher education. Our participants learn to create strategies, budgets and life plans to avoid the downfalls and commonly 'unforeseen until it's too late' circumstances traditional educational paths present, i.e., debt and economic devastation. The current education construct is antiquated--especially for Urban Youth, yet most youth are locked into an educational system which inadequately prepares them for the new economy.
Student Assets NFP stands in the gap. We are the organization where education makes dollars and sense.
